The Hong Kong International Airport
In mid 2008 the HKIA approached SDWorks to develop a custom design of the bookmark to celebrate their 10th Anniversary. Thousands of bookmark were produced and given as a gift to all the staff. The design worked closely with the HKIA to create the artwork that resembled the new airport terminal while keeping the Chinese paper-cutting style.
In early 2010, the Holy Trinity Church contacted SDWorks to make a custom bookmark to celebrate their 120th anniversary. In this custom project, SDWorks made one set of Copper plated bookmarks to distribute to the Church members and another set of Gold platted bookmarks that were used for fund raising.
The design of this bookmark, in the style of traditional Chinese paper-cutting, alludes to peace and tranquility amidst the rapid changes and mutations around us. The domestic scene among the birds reaffirms the permanence of basic human values, and the fruit and the branches of the olive tree evoke peace. All these are depicted against a mighty waterfall and the waves and billows it creates, and signify a desire for the inner peace that comes with the certain knowledge that all changes and changes in this life will rest in the changelessness of the lord.
This delicate bookmark shows the skyline of PolyU, which has undergone substantial change during the different stages of the institution's development. Celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2012, PolyU now boasts a family of 30,000 students, 3,500 staff members and more than 300,000 graduates. What has not changed is that, all members of PolyU continue to strive to apply their knowledge and innovative vision to make the world a better place, manifesting our motto "To learn and to apply, for the benefit of mankind".
